Stress Management: Celebrate Your Profession

Calling all Audiologists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Speech, Language, and Hearing Scientists, Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Assistants, and Students!

Better Speech and Hearing Month is almost here and it has a new name!

May is now National Speech-Language-Hearing Month!  Let’s celebrate the vital role of speech-language pathologists (SLPs), audiologists, and other professionals in providing support and treatment to individuals with speech, language, and hearing challenges.

As a group, there are MANY achievements and milestones worth celebrating!   Take pride in your achievements, and use this celebration as an opportunity to reflect on the meaningful impact you’ll make in the lives of others.

#1:  Your Education!

Let us NOT overlook the years of hard work you completed just to enter the field!

Since then, each of us has made significant achievement after significant achievement.   Take some time to think of all you have contributed!

When celebrating these achievements, you only acknowledge your hard work and dedication as well as that of the other of individuals within your profession.  You also inspire others to continue striving for excellence in their work. It’s an opportunity to come together as a community, reflect on your collective impact, and renew your commitment to making a difference in the lives of others.

Celebrating Yourself and Other Professionals

Yes, NSLHM is a time to celebrate the dedication and hard work of all of you who work tirelessly to improve the lives of individuals with communication disorders.

And YES, you may feel a little funny about celebrating yourself!

Remember that celebrating yourself and your team is not only a healthy way to acknowledge your accomplishments but also a way to foster a positive and supportive work environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated.

So you will be both rewarding yourself AND supporting your work team and organization at the same time!

Your celebrating can lead to networking, team building, motivation, and more!  Is that enough of a reason?

We will start our brainstorming of celebration ideas with ways to celebrate your team because people find this easier than finding ways to celebrate themselves!  Hopefully, that will warm your mind up to the idea, and by the end of this post, you will be ready to celebrate!
