School-based speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and speech-language pathology assistants (SLPAs) are wrapping up the school year and preparing clients and caregivers for successful summer experiences.  This asynchronous, text-based offering will cover strategies to support the communication of clients in a variety of summer settings, from summer school to travel.

Target audience:  School-based Speech-Language Pathologists and Speech-Language Speech-Language Pathology Assistants

Learning Objectives
You will be able to:

  • Identify at least two strategies that a speech-language pathologist can implement to support clients in communicating outside of the school or clinical setting.
  • Identify at least two strategies that a caregiver can implement to support clients in communicating outside of the school or clinical setting.
  • Select one new tool to be individualized and implemented for a client.

  3. Supporting Students:
    1. Attending a Summer School Program  (478 words)
    2. Spending Less Structured Time Based Around the Home and Community (996 words)
    3. Attending Camps or Other Recreational Groups (200 words)
    4. Supporting Plans for Travel  (519 words)
  4. Conclusion: Ready, Set, Go!  (90 words)

Assessment Type: Quiz/Exam. A certificate of completion and ASHA CEUs will be provided after the participant accurately answers 4/5 questions on the quiz. Unlimited retakes are provided.
