Just like we assessed our professional baseline in the last post, it’s just as important to check in on our personal lives. Our work matters and so does the rest of our life. Life moves fast, and without reflection, we might find ourselves stuck in routines that no longer serve us or missing out on opportunities for fulfillment.
By taking a personal baseline, we can identify what’s working, what’s not, and where we want to grow—whether that’s in relationships, well-being, finances, or personal passions.
How to Assess Your Personal Baseline

Take a moment to reflect on these key areas:
1. Mental & Emotional Well-Being
- How do I feel, overall, on a daily basis—stressed, content, overwhelmed?
- Am I managing my stress in healthy ways?
- Do I practice self-care and prioritize rest?
- What emotions do I experience most often?
2. Physical Health & Wellness
- Am I taking care of my body with movement, sleep, and nutrition?
- Do I have any health concerns I’ve been neglecting?
- How do I feel physically—energized, sluggish, strong, fatigued?
3. Relationships & Social Life
- Do my relationships (family, friends, romantic, etc.) feel fulfilling?
- Am I making time for the people who matter most?
- Do I set healthy boundaries and surround myself with supportive people?
4. Finances & Stability
- Do I feel in control of my finances, or am I constantly stressed about money?
- Am I saving, budgeting, or working toward financial goals?
- Do my financial habits support my long-term security and dreams?
5. Hobbies, Passion & Personal Growth
- Am I engaging in activities that bring me joy outside of work?
- Do I make time for creativity, learning, or personal development?
- Am I trying new things and stepping outside my comfort zone?
Identifying Areas for Goal Selection
Once you’ve reflected on these questions, look for patterns.
- Are there areas where you feel strong and confident? Great—those are your assets!
- Are there areas that spark frustration, self-doubt, or a desire for change. Those are prime opportunities for growth.
Pick 1-2 areas where improvement would make the most meaningful impact on your professional satisfaction and effectiveness.
